It's true! In order to encourage travelers to visit Thailand, Air Asia and Thailand's Tourism Authority have put together a promotion offering 100,000 free plane tickets to Bangkok.
"The airline said the free tickets would be good for travel to the Thai capital of Bangkok from Vietnam, Cambodia, Myammar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and China as well as for flights within Thailand.
Tickets can be obtained only through AirAsia's Web site from Wednesday through Friday and will be good for travel between Jan. 6 and March 31. Passengers will have to pay airport taxes and an administration fee."

Explore northwest Thailand in this video that shows the travels to Kamphaeng Phet, Mae Sot and Umphang. While some of the early travel is done by car, it's the latter part of this clip which I find really interesting, the jungle rafting with amazing rock formations by the sides of the river.
How much fun is this? This video is a short look at the adventures of an elephant trek, visiting a local village outside Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. Elephants of course are one of the smartest land animals, so I always feel a bit torn when I see them being used as modes of transport. On the one hand, they are certainly respected and likely cared for in order to remain healthy; on the other hand, they would surely much rather be free to roam wild in the jungles. Although to be honest, even with these conflicting viewpoints, I would certainly love to ride an elephant myself!

Okay, despite the headline, all but two of the top 10 ranked hotels in Thailand (as determined by Forbes Traveler) are in either Bangkok or Phuket. Regardless, if you have the Thai Bahts, you'll have the luxury experience of a lifetime at any of these hotels. From the Tourism Authority of Thailand comes their latest promo video. It's rather short at one-minute long, but does contain some rather amazing footage, all accompanied by a little golden flying guide. Have a look!
